May I Offer You Some Free Books?

Pick a book, any book...

You are probably aware that for most retail businesses, the last quarter of the year - the months of October, November, and December - are critically important; that's when many businesses make the majority of their sales for the year.  My own Barefoot Books business is no exception to this, and I am already laying the groundwork for a very busy holiday season.  With a lot of hard work, and a little bit of luck, I am anticipating a very profitable final quarter for myself and my team of Ambassadors.

Right about now you are probably wondering why I am sharing my fourth quarter plans with you...and what it has to do with free books.  Here's the scoop - I can't be successful without you, my loyal customers.  I want to reward all of you who are going to help me be successful over the next few months, and I want to offer as many different ways for you to be rewarded as I can.

Here's my offer, and feel free to suggest other ways to earn a reward if you think of any:
  • Anyone who hosts a Barefoot home party between now and December 31st will receive free books equal to 20% of the party sales no matter how much the total is (normally your guests would have to order $500 in Barefoot books and products for you to earn 20% of sales).  You will also receive a free book for every guest at your party who schedules their own Barefoot home party with me, and a free book for every guest at your party who joins my team as an Ambassador before December 31st.  This is in addition to the free book that you receive for scheduling the party.
  •  Anyone who introduces Barefoot Books to a friend who then places an order through my online Barefoot Marketplace by December 31st will receive a free book.  Please email me your friend's name so I can give you credit for the referral.
  •  Anyone who refers a friend who schedules a Barefoot home party with me before December 31st will receive a free book.
  • Anyone who lets me know about a community event or fundraiser or other opportunity for me to sell Barefoot Books in the Greater Boston area before December 31st will receive a free book.
  •  Anyone who refers a friend to my Barefoot Books Ambassador team (and that person joins my team by December 31st) will receive a free book.

There is no limit to the number of free books you can earn between now and December 31st!  I will tally up all the referrals and notify everyone by January 2nd, 2013 and free books will be shipped out by January 15th, 2013 (unless the book you want is out of stock at the time).

Thank you all so much for your support so far, I can't wait to see how many free books I will be able to send to you in the new year!

Summer Sale Ends on Monday!

Here's a reminder that you have until midnight on Monday, August 13th, to take advantage of the Barefoot Books 2012 Summer Sale - if you don't order by then, you will have to wait another year to save THIS MUCH on THIS MANY fantastic books and other products!

Four big boxes were delivered by the UPS driver to our house last week, and it was like Christmas morning...in fact, several of the items in the boxes will go to nieces and nephews this Christmas; I'm just about done with all of my holiday shopping already!  I also got a few books - such as The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories - that I've had my eye on for awhile but wasn't sure we'd really like them; Elfe added six new books to her personal Barefoot collection that way, and she is thrilled by all of them!

Here are some of the books on sale through tomorrow that I definitely recommend you take a look at:

And there are so, so, so many more!  What are you waiting for?  I encourage you to order now!

The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories

I have to admit that I was very reluctant to order this book.  My ballerina-loving daughter kept requesting it, but I kept telling her to wait.  Although I love Barefoot Books for the diversity in their stories, there are one or two books that have disappointed me in that area and that I won't recommend to my customers for that reason; based on the cover of this book, I was afraid that it would be another disappointment.

But The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories is part of the Summer Sale, and I had a voucher for some free books for winning a recruitment challenge in the spring, so I decided to finally say "yes" to this book when Elfe asked if we could include it in my most recent order.

I am so excited to let you know that I was pleasantly surprised - I should have added The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories to our collection long ago!

First of all, the book is simply stunning.  Several of the stories include a full two-page illustration of the dance the story is about, and all of the artwork is amazing.

The stories are about dances from all around the world, and the table of contents tells you not just the name of the story, where it is from, and the style of dance it is about, but also includes a couple of paragraphs about each story and the dance.  Here is the list of stories:

The Twelve Dancing Princes - Germany - Waltz
Robe of Feathers - Japan - Noh Dancing
Making the Stone Smoke - St. Vincent, West Indies - Limbo
The Shepherd's Flute - Spain - Flamenco
Dancing with the Birch Fairy - Czech Republic - Polka
When the Goddess Danced - Egypt - Belly Dancing
Tam O'Shanter - Scotland - Scottish Reels
The Little Bird Who Went Dancing - Mali - Malian Dance

The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories comes with a CD narrated by Juliet Stevenson, and on the CD each story is introduced by a short piece of music that represents the story - Elfe jumps up to dance when she hears the music every time she listens to the CD!

At the end of the book there is a page devoted to each of the types of dance described in the stories, with information about the dance itself, the history of the dance and how it is danced today, the costumes worn for the dance, instructions on how to do the dance.

The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories would be a wonderful gift for any little dance lover in your life, and it's a book that can definitely be enjoyed for years to come.  The Barefoot description says it is appropriate for ages eight and up, but my five-year-old was enthralled - and I am sure she will still be enchanted by this book when she is eight!  This is a sturdy hardcover book that is usually $23.99 (and well worth that much, in my opinion), but until the end of the Summer Sale on Monday August 13th it's just $19.99.

I will leave you with one last picture that should convince you that this book is worth adding to your own collection...
